From custom-designed glycans to advanced chemical biology tools, BioBeyond_NL enables proteome-wide and spatially resolved insights into biomolecular interactions-powered by next-generation mass spectrometry.
Well-defined glycans will be prepared in facile manners by chemical and chemo-enzymatic approaches to serve as standards for analytic proposes and for examining interactions with glycan binding proteins using various technologies such as glycan microarray, bio-layer interferometry and cell surface glyco-engineering. Chemical biology tools will be developed and made available, including (photo)chemical crosslinkers, proximity labeling reagents, to study biomolecular interactions, with a focus on protein-glycan, protein-protein, protein-RNA, and protein-drug interactions. Empowered by the state-of-the-art mass spectrometers, the tools will enable studying these interactions not only proteome-wide, but also in a spatially resolved manner.
